Who Should I Contact First If Im Having Trouble Making Ends Meet
Veterans and their families who are having a hard time with basic life necessities such as food, shelter, utilities, etc., should contact Vermont 211. This program has an inventory of all the federal, state, and local resources available to Vermonters. This includes local food shelves, state assistance programs, local private organizations, etc. They are available 24 hours a day, every day. Just dial 2-1-1 from any phone in Vermont to get connected.

Option : Set Up A Repayment Plan To Pay Your Debt Over Time
If you cant pay your copay debt all at once, you can set up a monthly repayment plan at any time. We’ll review your proposed payment plan based on the amount of debt you owe and your ability to pay within a reasonable time. We usually require you to pay off the full debt within 3 years.
To set up a repayment plan:
Fill out an Agreement to Pay Indebtedness .
In paragraph 1A, tell us how much you can pay each month.
Submit your completed form and any other needed documentation to us.
You can send these by mail, or bring them in person, to the business office or health administration office at your nearest VA medical center.
Once we approve your repayment plan, begin sending your monthly payments.
If you receive a coupon book with your approved repayment plan, please send payments to the address on the coupon. You can also make a payment by mail or in person at your VA medical centers revenue office.
Note: Repayment plans dont include new charges you may receive after submitting your proposed plan. If you submit your plan and then receive a bill with new charges, please submit a new VA Form 1100 for the new charges. Free Financial Education Builds Knowledge
Military OneSource and installations offer free financial management classes, seminars, online tools and more. Your service member can check the installations Financial Readiness Management Programs to see whats available. There are virtual options, too, including:
- Money Matters courses. These 45-minute courses were developed by financial experts who understand military life. Topics cover car-buying strategies, consumer credit, developing a spending plan, investing in your future and moving in the military.
- Consumer, business and financial publications are free for your service member through the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Digital Library. Publications include Consumer Reports, Business Plan Builder, Entrepreneurship, Morningstar Investment Research Center and Weiss Financial Ratings.

The pandemic has impacted Veterans, their families and the organizations that support them. By accessing these funds, Veterans organizations were able to re-focus on supporting Veterans and their families rather than concentrating efforts on ensuring sufficient funding for the organization. Ultimately, this was a way for us to quickly support Veterans organizations that need it.

For The Purpose Of These Guidelines Veteran Means The Following:
A person who served in the armed forces of the United States on active military duty and was discharged from the service under honorable conditions, and who either served on active duty for reasons other than training or, while serving on active duty for training, incurred a disability recognized by the department of veterans affairs or department of defense as service connected.
No applications will be taken from estranged spouses of veterans or dependents not living with the veteran.
The Clark County Veterans Office operates on an appointment basis. Applications are not taken on a walk-in basis unless there is an extreme emergency not due to the negligence of the applicant. Poor planning does not constitute an emergency. All applicants must be residents of Clark County for no less than 90 days prior to applying for financial assistance.

Overview of Maryland Veterans Trust FundTo apply, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- At the time of application, applicants must have been a Maryland resident for at least 24 months
- Applicants must be eligible for burial in a Maryland State Veterans Cemetery
- Applicants must have an honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions
- Applicant income may not exceed 250% of the federal poverty guidelines. For a single veteran 250% is $32,000.

The Hope Fund for Critical Financial Assistance will provide financial relief to all eras of military and veteran caregivers through grants that aim to put military families on the path to financial wellness. These grants provide high-impact financial assistance to prevent or address a significant crisis or to improve the quality of life of the caregiver family. This financial relief fills the gaps that other programs may not cover, such as medical bills, natural disaster assistance, emergency transportation for appointments, or loss of income.

Many American Legion and VFW posts have an emergency assistance fund for veterans and their families. We recommend veterans get in touch with their local post. What Is The Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund
The Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund addressed some of the core funding shortfalls of Veterans organizations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This fund was created to ensure Veterans organizations remain viable during COVID-19 by covering a portion of their operating costs. These organizations play a critical role in the lives and well-being of Veterans and their families, as well as the communities in which they are located, including supporting homeless and disabled Veterans.
As provided for in BILL C-4, An Act relating to certain measures in response to COVID-19, this temporary source of funds was created to support Veterans organizations whose usual source of revenue and fundraising was not available at that time.
