Give Them An Extra Stroke

Hey it’s the least we can do for those who have volunteered to protect our freedom. If you’re feeling really generous, give more, or take less, although I suspect many veterans will pass on that stroke. If that’s the case, offer a Mulligan or two. Even if they don’t take it, it’s the gesture that counts.

Are Pxg Clubs Actually Good

According to a 2020 Chicago Tribune article, when Parsons founded PXG, he told his engineers they had 50 years and no budget to build a better golf club

He insisted on a golf club that provided higher launch, farther distance, a softer feel, and big sweet spot to be forgiving, according ot his website.

The Chicago Tribune write-up cited the companys commitment to research, development, engineering and high-performance materials. As a rule, PXG said it doesnt introduce new models unless they offer a significant performance improvement over previous models.

The company also sponsors a host of pro golfers who use their clubs in professional play.

Pga Hope Graduate Testimonies

PGA Hope provides free golf clinic, therapeutic outlet for veterans

After a recommendation from one of the providers at my VA hospital, I attended a four-week golf clinic sponsored by PGA HOPE and was later asked to be an Ambassador for the program. This opportunity has changed not only my game, but also my perspective. Having been an avid golfer before the Marines, I was so grateful to be welcomed back into a sport that I had been away from for nearly 15yrs. The professional staff of PGA HOPE gives veterans like me that little nudge we sometimes need to remember things we have forgotten about ourselves and encourages us to re-imagine our post-military lives through the game of golf. Being an Ambassador for this program is truly an honor.

Doug Jackson

PGA HOPE has made a huge impact on my life. I had both football and baseball scholarships to college but didnt stay in school long initially. In the military, I was constantly participating in sports and athletic competitions. After being injured in Iraq, and enduring a total of 15 orthopedic surgeries, all hope of athletic competition was put aside for years. Through PGA HOPE, I was able to learn and participate in a sport for the first time in well over a decade. It does the heart and mind wonders to be able to find competitiveness and camaraderie again, especially with other veterans.

Visit A Va Hospital To Promote Golf

Many injured veterans feel lost when they try to assimilate into civilian life, especially if they’ve suffered a life-changing injury. John Bircher, another Florida vet I met in Ireland, believes a visit to a VA Hospital to talk about golf could go a long way to improving a struggling vet’s morale. “Share with them what golf means to you and how the game has impacted your life and helped you to cope with any problems you might have,” he shared in a Facebook post.

There are organizations dedicated to helping disabled veterans learn how to play golf no matter their physical or mental issues. Windsor regularly holds clinics around the country helping pros learn how to teach golf to disabled golfers who have prosthetic/missing limbs or have other cognitive issues. Ken Juhn, his friend, has been holding a weekly clinic for disabled veterans at the Terrace Hill Golf Club in Florida for nine years.

These are the guys I admire the most. They’ve spent countless hours on the range helping disabled golfers get back to the game. They are doing a wonderful patriotic duty. Are you?

Spotlight Story: Andy Crane Pga Hope Instructor

Andy Crane, a PGA Professional at West Point Golf Course, has been involved in the PGA HOPE program since 2014.

He is inspired by seeing how the program can change Veterans lives over the course of only a few weeks. The program has seen tremendous growth since its inception: the first session had about 16 Veterans participate, with five PGA Professionals on location. In 2017, more than 150 Veterans graduated from the program in three locations. He also estimates that about 50 program graduates participate in the PGA HOPE League at his club.

Military Discounts For Those Who Love To Golf

Love golf? Want to go play? Need some new golfing equipment? Why not use a military discount when you do?

Here is a list of places that offer military discounts as well as information about military golf courses, free golf for veterans, and other opportunities for service members and veterans to easily play a game of golf.

Donate Money To Key Veteran Golf Organizations And Causes

Veterans can play for free at Ballwin golf course during Memorial Day weekend

There are too many worthy veteran golf organizations to list, but let’s touch on a few. The Veteran Golfers Association — launched in 2014 in Southern Pines, N.C. — provides veterans playing opportunities with tournaments around the country. Donations can range from $5 to purchase a wristband to join the “Band of Golfers” campaign up to $250 or more to join the VGA’s wall of honor.

Patriot Golf Day, held annually since 2007 over Labor Day weekend, collects donations for the Folds of Honor Foundation , which awards post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military killed or disabled while serving. Most golf courses ask for donations when you play that day, but some hold elaborate charity outings.

Coleman, who can be reached at golfsupports@aol.com, is again raising money for a second “Heroes to Ireland” trip in 2017. Donations of $100 or more will be entered into a raffle to win a four-person golf trip to Ireland donated by Farrell that includes four-star accommodations, a mini-van rental and rounds at Old Head Golf Links, Waterville House & Golf Links, Ballybunion Golf Club and Lahinch Golf Club.

Military discounts at Parsons Xtreme Golf can keep your golf budget from going over par.

The veteran-owned golf retailer offers performance clubs at special discount prices for military members and veterans.

Once Marine Corps veteran Bob Parsons made his fortune as an entrepreneur and real estate investor, he decided to build the ferrari of golf clubs.

The founder of Parsons Xtreme Golf developed a line of golf clubs that retail for up to three times what other leading brands charge. The clubs are designed to be forgiving enough to aid any golfer in the event of an off-center strike.

A Message From The Vgp Director

Put simply, VGP’s priorities for its members are, in order: food, shelter, transportation, and, of course, referrals for such medical and psychiatric services as they may need. The veterans’ needs are assessed organically through stress-free fellowship as they learn the rules, etiquette and techniques of golf. There are no charges for participants, who are coached by a staff of volunteers and, in many cases, provided the equipment they need.

As the veterans reveal their challenges, the program provides for their physical requirements and refers them as needed to the wide variety of counseling and advising services available in the Sacramento area. VGP has provided everything from groceries to tableware to furniture for veterans with short-term struggles. In more pressing cases, the program has provided bridge financing to cover rent or cleaning deposits for vets moving into safe housing, and it has provided reliable cars for vets needing transportation to work or college.
