Who Qualifies For The Va Dependent Pay
A veteran can receive VA dependent pay based on the number of people who depend financially on the veteran including parents. The VA includes biological parents, stepparents, and adoptive parents in the definition of parents. The VA also recognizes foster parents or other relatives who acted as the veterans parents for at least one year prior to the start of the veterans active duty.
The VA has three categories that define who qualifies as a VA dependent:
- Spouse: Anyone with whom you have a marital relationship including a same-sex spouse or a common-law spouse.
- Children: Unmarried children who are under 18, between 18 and 23 and attending school full time, or over 18 and disabled. The VA includes stepchildren and adopted children.
- Parents: Parents who are dependent on you for care and fall under predefined income and net worth thresholds.

Fully Developed Claim Vs Standard Claim
The VA offers an optional fully developed claim program to allow veterans to receive a faster decision regarding VA disability compensation. The term fully developed claim means that you have provided all information the VA requires when making an approval or denial decision on a disability claim. Here is the information you need to submit for the VA to consider your disability benefits request a fully developed claim:
- VA Form 21-526EZ, the Application for Disability Compensation and Related Compensation Benefits.
- Medical records and all other supporting documentation you think will help your case.
- Check with the VA to ensure that you dont need to provide additional evidence to support your disability claim.
- Attend your C & P exam and other medical appointments required by the VA.
The VA considers the following appropriate evidence for a fully developed claim:
- All medical records related to the condition for which you are filing a disability claim, including as a civilian and while completing military service.
- Any military records that relate to your disability claim.
- Medical records that you dont currently have in your possession that the VA can request from a federal facility such as a VA hospital.

How Does Va Determine The Amount Of Monthly Compensation Veterans Receive
In order to receive VA disability compensation, veterans must first establish service connection for the condition they are claiming. Generally speaking, service connection involves the following three elements:
- A current, diagnosed condition
- An in-service event, injury, or illness and
- A medical nexus between the current, diagnosed condition and the in-service event.
Once service connection is granted, VA will assign a disability rating based on the severity of the veterans condition. Typically, the more severe a veterans condition is, the higher the disability rating they will receive. VA disability ratings range from 0 to 100 percent, in increments of 10.
A rating of 0 percent does not entitle veterans to monthly compensation however, they may be eligible for other benefits, such as VA healthcare. If veterans have more than one service-connected condition, their disability ratings will be combined to determine their combined disability rating. Importantly, a veterans combined disability rating determines the amount of monthly compensation they will receive.

Enrollment status is used to classify the varying percentages of benefits that a student may receive under the various VA education benefit programs. The lists below are used to determine student status for VA educational benefits certification. Please note: these classifications are set by the VA and may differ from those used for university enrollment status or those used to determine financial aid. Only those courses counting toward your KU degree will be included for certification.

Receiving Va Disability Back Pay
VA back pay is paid to the veteran all at once in a single lump sum following a grant of benefits. This is different from all other benefits awarded in connection with the veterans claim, referred to as future benefits, which are paid on a monthly basis.
VA maintains that veterans should receive VA back pay within 15 days of the decision granting the retroactive benefits either through direct deposit or a check. However, it is not uncommon for VA to take several months to issue back pay and retroactive benefits. Therefore, it may be beneficial to work with a veterans disability lawyer to ensure you receive your VA back pay in a timely manner.
There are some circumstances that may complicate when the veteran receives their back pay. Below are some complications which may lengthen the time it takes a veteran to receive their back pay:

How Long Does It Take To Receive Va Benefits
First time recipients should start receiving their benefits in 6-8 weeks. Please note it can take up to 12 weeks in some cases. Continuing students should receive their benefits in about 4 weeks. To expedite this process, enrollment forms and other paperwork should be turned in as soon as possible during the previous semester. Dont wait until the last minute! This could delay your processing time.
If I Take A Class That Starts Later In The Semester How Will That Affect My Gi Bill Benefits
Students must be enrolled full time in term-long classes to receive full GI Bill benefits, as your benefits are charged by day. This means short-term and non-standard courses can affect your full-time status and, therefore, your benefits .
For example, undergraduate students must be in 12 credits that all start at the beginning of the semester and end at the end of the semester. If you have 12 credits but one of those courses starts later , you will be part time until that course starts. If you’re in 15 credits and one of the 3 credit hour courses starts later, there is no issue since you’re in 12 credits for the entire semester.
Before you enroll in shorter classes, it’s a good idea to reach out to someone in the Military-Affiliated Student Center or the VA Certifying Official to learn how the short courses can potentially affect your benefits. How Will I Know My Money Has Been Deposited
A common question you might have is how will you know that your Federal benefits money has been deposited. That depends on which method you select to get your deposit.
With direct deposit you can:
- Check your banks online website to see if the deposit has gone through
- Go to your bank in person to speak with someone that can look up your account information for you
With the prepaid debit card option you can:
- Receive free text messages to alert you that the deposit has posted to your debit card
- Receive an email alerting you that the deposit has posted to the debit card
I Dont Know What I Want To Register For This Term Can I Register For Any Course
If you have declared a major you must take courses that will be applied to your degree program. Most programs allow for a certain number of elective hours. Any course that does not fit into your program will be an elective. Once you have used up the allowed number of electives for your particular major, if you register for any more elective courses they cannot be certified by VA. You may also register for courses to be applied towards a declared second degree, or declared minor. If a course requires a prerequisite within your degree program the prerequisite can be certified for enrollment.

The Department of Veterans Affairs changed its appeal process on February 19, 2019. Anyone who received a denial or disagrees with their disability rating can formally appeal. You have one year from the date indicated on your decision letter to file a notice of disagreement with the VA. The appeal process options include:
- Supplemental Claims: With this type of appeal, you can add new evidence you didnt have available to you previously that is relevant to your initial claim.
- Higher-Level Review: Upon your request, a senior reviewer will go over your entire claim again to determine if the VA can make a new decision based on an error with the initial claim or a difference of opinion between reviewers.
- Board Appeal: At this highest level of appeal, you are requesting a Veterans Law Judge from the Board of Veterans Appeals in Washington, D.C. to review your initial claim for VA disability benefits again. All judges are experts in veteran law.
As with your initial claim, the VA will mail you a decision packet regarding the decision it made on your appeal. You have the option to try a different level of appeal if you feel unsatisfied with the results of the first one.

When Are Social Security Benefits Paid By Direct Deposit

It depends. The book stipend caps at $1,000 per academic year. The academic year runs from August to July. If you have received $1,000 between the fall and spring semesters, you have exhausted your stipend for the academic year. The book stipend is paid by credit hour. Generally the VA will pay $41.67 per credit hour .
Payment Status Not Available
If you are getting Payment Status Not Available from the IRS stimulus check tracker dont be alarmed.
According to the IRS, if you receive that message it can mean one of three things:
- You are not eligible for the payment.
- The payment has yet to be processed
