Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR& E) 5 Tracks

The Hilton Honors Military Program is aimed at giving back to military service members, veterans and their families.

This program allows Veterans, transitioning service members, National Guard/Reservist, and military spouses to receive up to 100,000 points to stay at Hilton brand hotels for approved job-search related activities.

To be eligible, individuals must be registered at an Alaska Job Center, have a current Hilton Honors account and have a specific employment-related need to travel .

The United States Office of the Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training was established by Secretary’s Order No. 5-81 in December 1981.

The assistant secretary position was created by P.L. 96-466 in October 1980, to replace the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment position created by P.L. 94-502 in October 1976. The bipartisan Congressional intent was to establish leadership of the department’s programs for services to veterans at the policy-making level, and thereby help to ensure Congressional mandates for an effective:

  • Job and job training counseling service program,
  • Employment placement service program, and
  • Job training placement service program for eligible veterans .

On July 16, 2021, President Joe Biden nominated James Rodriguez, the acting agency head and assistant secretary’s principal deputy, for the position of Assistant Secretary for VET he was confirmed by the Senate and sworn into office in May 2022.

Directors And Assistant Directors For Veterans’ Employment And Training Additional Federal Personnel

Directors and Assistant Directors .- The Secretary shall assign to each State a representative of the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service to serve as the Director for Veterans’ Employment and Training, and shall assign full-time Federal clerical or other support personnel to each such Director.

Each Director for Veterans’ Employment and Training for a State shall, at the time of appointment, have been a bona fide resident of the State for at least two years.

The Secretary may waive the requirement in subparagraph with respect to a Director for Veterans’ Employment and Training if the Secretary determines that the waiver is in the public interest. Any such waiver shall be made on a case-by-case basis.

Full-time Federal clerical or other support personnel assigned to Directors for Veterans’ Employment and Training shall be appointed in accordance with the provisions of title 5 governing appointments in the competitive service and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of chapter 51 and subchapter III of chapter 53 of title 5.

Additional Federal Personnel .-The Secretary may also assign as supervisory personnel such representatives of the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service as the Secretary determines appropriate to carry out the employment, training, and placement services required under this chapter, including Assistant Directors for Veterans’ Employment and Training.

    Veterans’ Employment and Training Service serves America’s veterans and separating service members by preparing them for meaningful careers, providing employment resources and expertise, and protecting their employment rights.

    We offer employment and training services to eligible veterans through a non-competitive Jobs for Veterans State Grants Program. Under this grant program, funds are allocated to State Workforce Agencies in direct proportion to the number of veterans seeking employment within their state.     Veterans Priority Of Service Statement

    Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR& E) Employment Through Long-Term Services Track

    Veterans Priority Statement. The U.S. Department of Labor provides grant funds to the State of Delaware to provide employment and training services to eligible residents and workers. As a condition to receiving those funds, priority of service will be given to qualified veterans when referring individuals to job openings, USDOL funded training programs or related services. In accordance with the implementation of the Veterans Priority Provisions of the Jobs for Veterans Act , qualified veterans will receive priority referral to services over non-veterans as determined by each programs mandatory eligibility criteria.

    Information and assistance will be provided by the Delaware Department of Labor, Division of Employment and Training, One-Stop office staff and the One-Stop website regarding available employment programs, training opportunities, services, eligibility requirements, and veterans priority.
