Va Clinic Opens Satellite Office For Ua Community
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. In partnership with the Division of Student Life and the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center, The University of Alabama opened a new VA satellite clinic in Capital Hall on the UA campus.
The Division of Student Life donated $75,000 to help open the clinic, while an additional $75,000 was donated by the Alabama Marines Foundation, the Campus Veterans Association, and David and Linda Ford.
The clinic offers support to UA faculty, staff and students who are veterans and eligible for VA health care. Brad Campbell, assistant director of Veteran and Military Affairs, said the opening of the clinic further supports veterans and active-duty military personnel who study or work at UA.
The Alabama Marines Foundation Veteran and Military Health Clinic will give VA eligible UA students, faculty and staff a convenient location for routine health care with minimal impact on their schedules, Campbell said.
The satellite office will be open on Mondays for health care appointments from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Medical staff from the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center will see patients for regular check-ups and exams.

Students can verify their enrollment status in one of two ways:
- Text Messaging Students who choose VAs Opt-In feature will receive a text message each month prompting them to verify their enrollment status
- Telephone Students may call the Education Call Center at 888-442-4551 to verify their enrollment status

Military Tuition Rate For Active Service Members
In order to qualify for the specialized tuition rate, you must be in an active component of the US military and apply for the specialized rate every semester you want to use it with our Military Student Services office.
This specialized rate cannot be used in conjunction with any other institutional scholarships, aide, specialized tuition rates, or tuition assistance.

To Take A Class At Another University
Students who would like to take classes at a different institution using federal benefits needs to provide a Transient Letter from the University of Alabama verifying the courses you would like to take at another institution can be transferred to the University of Alabama. For instructions on how to get a transient letter please visit the Registrar.

Role Of The Aamu Va Student
- Applies for VA Educational Benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs at least sixty days prior to enrollment at Alabama A& M University
- Consults with Academic Advisor for registration assistance and course selection each semester
- Provides the AAMU VA Certifying Official with Certificate of Eligibility issued from the Department of Veterans Affairs, current class schedule, course curriculum, and unofficial copy of transcript, if applicable
- Notifies the AAMU Office of Veterans Affairs immediately of any change in enrollment status
- Notifies the AAMU Office of Veterans Affairs if courses are taken at another college or university
- Reports to the AAMU Office of Veterans Affairs at the beginning of each semester for certification
