Senator Boozman’s Veterans Accomplishments
In January 2021, President Donald Trump signed into law the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvements Act of 2020 which included the Boozman-championed Deborah Sampson Act, legislation that eliminates barriers to care and services many women veterans face and helps ensure the Department of Veterans Affairs can address the needs of women veterans critically important reform given the reality that women veterans are more likely to face homelessness, unemployment and lack of access to needed health care.
The senator continues to build on this momentum to improve benefits and services for women veterans. In 2022, the Boozman-authored Dr. Kate Hendricks Thomas Supporting Expanded Review for Veterans in Combat Environments Act was signed into law. This law modernizes VA breast cancer screening policies by require the department to conduct mammograms for all women who served in areas associated with burn pits and other toxic exposures regardless of age, symptoms or family history.
Coupled with the Boozman-led Making Advances in Mammography and Medical Options for Veterans Act also signed into law in 2022, the senator has been and continues to be a champion for women veterans and ensuring they have access to lifesaving breast cancer screenings.

The Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs dates back to the postWorld War I years and the need to care for Arkansas residents disabled during the war. It underwent transformation broadening its scope during World War II and following the Vietnam War. At present, ADVA operates two homes for disabled veterans, as well as two veterans cemeteries, and acts as a liaison for state residents and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The department assumed its present incarnation following Act 324, approved on March 8, 1979. Act 324 called upon the department to maintain an Arkansas Veterans Home at the former site of the Arkansas School for the Blind and the Arkansas School for the Deaf it also created a Governors Task Force on Veterans Affairs, consisting of people appointed by the governor, to oversee the veterans home.

Todd is currently a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
