What Is The Contributors Childs Benefit For Cpp Disability
In addition to the CPP Disability Benefit, you might also be eligible to receive a separate supplemental amount called the Contributors Childs Benefit if you are raising a child under 18 during your time with the disability. This amount is also prescribed by the Canadian Government annually.
The Contributors Childs Benefit is a separate amount that you can receive. This means that even if you are receiving the maximum CPP Disability benefit monthly, as long as you are eligible for the Contributors Childs Benefit, you will receive it.
This amount will be given to you as the supplemental benefit if the child you are caring for is below 18. However, if you are taking care of someone who is between 18 and 25 and is a full time student, this supplemental amount will be given to them directly instead.
Contribution Requirements For Cpp Disability
First things first, to be eligible to receive the CPP Disability Benefits you must have contributed to the Canada Pension Program.By law, working Canadians must pay into the Canada Pension Plan program. However, paying into the CPP does not automatically mean that one is eligible to receive the CPP Disability Benefits.
To be eligible to receive the CPP Disability you must fall into one of the following groups:
- You must have been an active contributor to the CPP for at least 4 of the 6 years prior to your application.

Determine your retirement benefits after the first 12 months. This benefit amount continues until you reach the age of 62. Multiply your average high-three salary by 40 percent.
Subtract any eligible Social Security payments for any month in which you are entitled to social security. Your disability during this time period is the higher of this amount and any other earned annuity in the FERS retirement system.

You are not required to take Part B, and some people choose to delay. Many of the calculations depend on your high-3 salary. OPM defines your high-3 as the highest average basic pay you earned during any 3 consecutive years of service. Your basic pay is your basic salary paid for your position.
This includes salary increases for which retirement deductions are withheld, such as shift rates. It does not include payments for overtime, bonuses, etc. Further, if ones total service was less than 3 years, the average salary is figured by averaging basic pay during all periods of creditable Federal service.
The best way to find your high-3 average salary is to get a FERS benefit to estimate from your Agency. This report will show the official figures that will be sent to OPM.
