After an ADHD diagnosis from a pediatrician, a lot of parents are not taking a very necessary next step: going for an assessment with someone who specializes in treating adolescents mental health and trauma to determine what else, if anything, might be going on. When symptoms look like ADHD, children, adolescents, and even adults also need to be assessed for trauma so theres a differential diagnosis . We need to take a look at the bigger picture. Is there a history of physical, sexual, emotional and/or attachment trauma? A frightened or frightening parent?
I personally feel a trauma assessment is the least that can be done to ensure a child isnt spending any period of time on unnecessary medication or with an incorrect diagnosis.

Having taken this medication and trying it for myself, I understand why its not commonly prescribed for anxiety and tough to get.
Additionally, I want to make it clear that just because Adderall works for your anxiety does not mean that you originally had ADD or ADHD. Although anxiety can be a comorbid diagnoses with ADD, dont automatically assume you have ADD or a variation because this drug works. This medication works for a lot of different things including narcolepsy.
