One of the areas in which you may notice a difference is in your social lives. The Veteran you care for may become uncomfortable in large crowds or unfamiliar places, and so you may find yourself feeling more socially isolated, losing support networks, or feeling the need to compensate for the Veteran you care for in social situations that are uncomfortable for him or her while providing support and encouragement at the same time. You may also have to learn coping skills to manage the stigma that is sometimes associated with mental health disorders.
You may also notice a difference in your personal relationship with the Veteran you care for. It is important to understand that it may be harder to talk to the Veteran due to changes in his or her behavior and/or communication style.
In addition, if the Veteran is experiencing difficulty managing his or her anger, you may feel like you live in an atmosphere of constant chaos. If the Veteran you are caring for is your spouse or partner, you may experience additional changes in your relationship. This might include feeling worried that your Veteran is no longer emotionally or physically attracted to you due to emotional unavailability, or a decreased interest in physical intimacy and sexual activity. In addition, due to sleep disturbance , many couples choose to sleep in separate beds , which may cause further feelings of emotional separation.

Va Accreditation Representative Training And Education
CAV provides accredited training to representatives responsible for assisting servicemembers with their claims and appeals for benefits administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Uniformed Services. This accreditation is available from the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the General Counsel after an official application is made and an extensive process is conducted.
CAV provides legal and representative practitioner training for current and prospective VA accredited representatives. Such individuals include lawyers, claims agents, Veterans Service Officers , social workers, law and social work students, and Veterans and other civilians from all walks of life who seek to continue serving their country by representing other members of the AVC.
Our training and education will prepare you to help the American Veteran Community and American Military Community as a prospective or current accredited VA representative. Readjudication Of Denied Claims
Earlier today, Acting Undersecretary for Benefits Tom Murphy released the attached notice which states that VA will announce a plan to re-adjudicate claims for veterans who were previously denied service connection for a herbicide related presumptive condition due to lack of in-country Vietnam service. According to this notice, VA will automatically review the evidence of record and provide replacement decisions in the cases of veterans who were previously denied service connection for one or more herbicide related conditions on the basis that military service was not performed in the Republic of Vietnam or on its inland waterways. This review will also apply to eligible survivors of deceased Vietnam-era veterans.
Though we do not have an official date for the start of this review yet, we anticipate that reviews of these claims will begin shortly after VAâs official announcement is made. As more details emerge about this re-adjudication plan, including regulations, procedures, and any required actions on the part of our accredited representatives, we will pass them on to you. In the meantime, please read the attached notice and be aware of this upcoming review of claims.

The Veterans Benefits Administration is actively hiring Veterans Service Representatives nationwide. VSRs support Veterans by processing their new and existing benefits claims.
Recently, VA added asthma, rhinitis, and sinusitis as presumptive conditions related to some toxic exposures that may have impacted military service members while on active duty in some recent military operations.

Reach Out Campaign Highlights Programs And Assistance For Veterans During Suicide Prevention Month
WASHINGTON â In conjunction with Suicide Prevention Month this September, the Department of Veterans Affairs is launching Reach Out, a new campaign that raises awareness of its mental health resources available for Veterans.
Timely evidence-based suicide prevention public service announcements on firearm safe storage have been released as the 20th anniversary of 9/11 approaches and the recent events in Afghanistan spark an array of emotions along with other stressors.
Reach Out emphasizes the importance of not waiting for a crisis to happen by acting now to help prevent Veteran suicide later. In addition to reaching out other critical actions that can save a life are hearing a Veteranâs story, being prepared, finding resources and spreading the word.
The messaging ensures Veterans, their families, friends and caregivers know they are not alone, and it only takes a moment to reach out and ask for help. VA’s Suicide Prevention Month campaign encourages Veterans who might be going through a challenging time in their lives to reach out for support.

Eligibility For Special Hiring Authority
WARTAC is open to Wounded Warriors and transition Service members with 180-days or less on active-duty. VRA is an excepted authority that allows agencies to appoint eligible Veterans without competition if the Veteran/service member is:
- in receipt of a campaign badge for service during a war or in a campaign or expedition OR
- a disabled veteran, OR
- in receipt of an Armed forces Service Medal for participation in a military operation, OR
- a recently separated veteran , AND separated under honorable conditions , you are VRA eligible.
Extension Of The Presumptive Period For Compensation For Gw Veterans
VA published a final rule to amend its adjudication regulation 38 CFR 3.317 regarding compensation for disabilities suffered by Veterans who served in the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations during the Persian Gulf War. This amendment extends the presumptive period through December 31, 2026, during which disabilities associated with undiagnosed illnesses and medically unexplained chronic multi-symptom illnesses must become manifest in order for a veteran to be eligible for compensation.

Rvsr Position Description & Qualifications
The RVSR analyzes claims to determine if diseases and/or inquiries were incurred or aggravated by military service in the line of duty for purposes of VA benefits. RVSRs determine service-connection percentages of claimed disabilities. The RVSR works in a cubicle-style office environment in VA Veteran Service Centers and serves as the primary contact for assigning disability evaluations.
Veterans And Family Information Act Provides Greater Access For Non
Veterans with limited English skills soon will have greater access to information about federal benefits. The Veterans and Family Information Act, or H.R. 2093, directs the Department of Veterans Affairs to translate all of its factsheets into Spanish, Tagalog and 10 other common languages. Those translations will also be posted on the VAs website.

Physical And Mental Changes To Expect:
While the general symptoms for PTSD are similar, the types and severity of symptoms will differ for each Veteran.
- Physical changes may include: difficulty staying or falling asleep irritability or outbursts of anger physical reactionsâsuch as profuse sweating, increased heart rate and rapid breathingâwhen exposed to internal or external cues or reminders of the traumatic event intense distress when exposed to internal or external reminders of the event such as certain sounds or smells avoiding any activities, places or people that remind the Veteran of the trauma.
- Mental changes may include: recurring and intrusive thoughts about the event recurring and distressing dreams of the event acting or feeling as if it the traumatic event were recurringâalso known as having flashbacks being unable to recall an important aspect of the trauma difficulty concentrating and efforts to avoid thoughts, feeling or conversations associated with the trauma.
- Emotional changes may include: intense distress when exposed to internal or external reminders of the event such as certain sounds or smells a noticeable lack of interest or participation in important activities feelings of detachment or estrangement from others limited ability or inability to show affection or love feelings of a bleak future, such as limited career or family opportunities, and shortened life span overly alert or on guardâalso known as “hyper-vigilanceââand/or exaggerated response when startled.
What Is Wartac
WARTAC is a skill-bridge education and employment opportunity for Wounded Warriors and transitioning service members to complete a national-level VBA training program while on active duty. Successful completion of this training program leads to an opportunity for service members to be hired at 55 of VBA’s 56 Regional Offices.
WARTAC is open to Wounded Warriors and active duty service members in the transition process.
The WARTAC program provides participants with an opportunity to learn the skill set of a VA Veteran Service Representative through a 12 week program or Rating Veteran Service Representative through a 14 week program.
