If you have a disability condition that was caused or made worse by your active-duty military service, you may be eligible to receive tax-free monthly compensation for life. Veterans can prepare and file their own VA disability compensation claim for FREE by opening a Notice of Intent to File on the VA.gov website for a VA disability increase or first-time filer. An Intent to File puts the VA on notice that youre planning to file a VA claim, which is important because it sets an effective date for when you could start getting benefits while you prepare your disability claim and gather supporting documents . How Can I Qualify For A 100 Percent Va Disability Rating
To qualify for a 100 percent VA rating, you must either have one condition rated at 100%, or have one or more individual VA ratings increased, which will then increase your total combined rating to 95.00 or higher .
If your conditions have worsened since you last applied and now qualify for a higher rating, you can submit a new claim on VA.gov by checking the box for an increased evaluation.
Further, you can always add new primary or secondary disabilities, but youll need to prove service connection.

Wyoming Veteran Recreation Benefits
Wyoming resident disabled veterans are eligible for a free lifetime fishing license. Wyoming residents who are 100% disabled veterans are eligible for a free lifetime game, bird, small game, and fishing license.
Wyoming 100% disabled veterans receive a free lifetime camping pass to all Wyoming state parks, recreation areas, and historical sites.

Free Lifetime Vehicle Registration
When my husband first received his rating, we lived in Washington state. I was so excited to learn that we were now eligible for free lifetime vehicle registration!
We were given permanent registration tags for one vehicle, and we never had to renew it. Of course, we moved out of state and ruined that but it was great while it lasted!
Many states offer discounts on vehicle registration for veterans, usually those with a 100% rating and sometimes those with a 25-50% rating as well. This is one of my favorite extra benefits for 100% disabled veterans, so we have a full list here.
What Is The 2022 Pay Rate For 100 Percent Disabled Veterans
Veterans with a 100 percent disability rating from the VA receive the highest monthly tax free compensation allowed by law.
In 2022, a veteran with a 100 percent VA disability rating receives compensation of at least $3,332.06 per month.
Monthly compensation amounts increase if a veteran has qualifying dependents, such as a spouse, children, or parents.

Specially Adapted Housing Program
The VA offers housing grants for veterans with service-connected disabilities so that they can buy or change a home to meet their needs and their disabilities. Because this is a grant program, you do not have to pay back the grant you are awarded. If you need a ramp for easy wheelchair accessibility or to simply make it easier for you to get in, out and around your home, you can apply for the Specially Adapted Housing Grant. With this grant, you can use the money to buy, build, or change your permanent home. You need to meet the following criteria:
- Own or will own the home, and
- Have a qualifying service-connected disability
A qualifying service-connected disability can include the loss of use of more than one limb, the loss of use of a lower leg along with the residuals of an organic disease or injury, blindness in both eyes, certain severe burns, the loss or loss of use of one lower extremity after September 11, 2001, which makes it so you cannot balance or walk without the help pf braces, crutches, canes, or a wheelchair.
You may also be able to get a Special Home Adaptation Grant with the same criteria as above and have qualifying service-connected disabilities such as the loss or loss of uses of both hands, certain severe burns, or certain respiratory or breathing injuries.
Dependents Educational Assistance Benefits For 100% Disabled Veterans
The VA Chapter 35 benefits program, also called Dependents Educational Assistance , provides education benefits and/or special restorative training for eligible dependents and survivors of certain veterans and service members. Eligible dependents can receive up to 36 or 45 months of full-time or equivalent benefits for any of the following: College, technical, or vocational degree programs, independent study, online distance learning, or correspondence courses, high school diploma or GED programs, educational and career counseling programs, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and/or career training certificate courses. Generally, a disabled veteran must be 100% P& T due to a service-connected disability for dependents to qualify. Expedited Processing Of Social Security Disability Benefits
Disabled veterans with a 100% permanent and total VA disability rating may receive expedited processing of applications for Social Security Disability Benefits. The Social Security Administration automatically identifies most veterans that meet the VA 100% Permanent and Total disability compensation rating. Although in rare instances a veteran may have to self-identify as meeting the rating and provide the VA notification letter as proof. You can apply online by clicking HERE.

North Dakota Dmv Benefits For 100% Disabled Veterans
North Dakota veterans with a service-connected 100% disability rating are eligible for Disabled American Veteran license plates.
DAV license plates exempt veterans from paying sales tax on up to two vehicles. Additionally, there is no annual license or registration fee. An unremarried surviving spouse can retain one DAV plate for their own use.
What If Im Only Partially Disabled
Those who are not eligible for the discounts and benefits afforded to military members who are 100 percent disabled still enjoy benefits from Disney parks. They can stay at Shades of Green during the months of September and January and receive discounted admission passes to Disney, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and other attractions throughout Orlando and the surrounding area.
Keep in mind, just because you qualify for benefits and discounts from Disney doesnt mean you wont be paying out of pocket for a number of attractions and necessities during your trip. For instance, Disney doesnt discount dining for military members, but there are some on-site dining establishments that do offer discounts, so check in advance and plan your dining before you go if youre interested in saving money.
Keep in mind, Disney does not set the eligibility for these discount programs. Instead, the Department of Defense determines who is eligible for Disney discounts that are related to disability. If you have any concerns or questions and Disney representatives are unable to offer you the information you need, you can contact the Department of Defense.

Which States Have Property Tax Waivers For Disabled Veterans
Most states offer some sort of property tax exemption for disabled veterans.
However, 17 states offer full waiver of property taxes for 100 percent disabled veterans on their primary residence.
While not all 50 states offer the same tax breaks for disabled veterans, and the criteria to qualify for a waiver differs from state to state, its in your best interest to check with your state county tax assessors office to see if you qualify.

Finding The Best Travel Discounts Takes Time
In my experience, booking the best travel deals requires a little legwork and a lot of patience. If you are traveling on military orders, always check with your unit before booking travel. They may have access to special offers or may have other requirements.
If you are traveling on your own, then start with your itinerary, and determine whether or not you can work some of the military-specific travel options such as Space-A, Armed Forces Recreation Centers, or base lodging into your plans. If you can, then you can usually save a substantial amount of money on your trip. If you arent able to work one or more of those into your itinerary, then you can always go look at the travel websites mentioned above. Worst case scenario, you get the same deal everyone else gets.

Va Burial Benefits And Plot Allowances
Surviving spouses and dependents may qualify for allowances to help pay for a veterans burial and funeral costs. You may be able to get Veterans burial allowances if youre paying for the burial and funeral costs and you wont be reimbursed by any other organization, like another government agency or the Veterans employer. If the Veteran died of a service connected disability ON or AFTER September 11, 2001, the maximum VA burial benefit allowance is $2,000 or $1,500 for a Veteran who died of a service connected disability BEFORE September 11, 2001.
