Its no secret that many veterans are constantly struggling with finding their place once theyve decided to go back to civilian life, and starting a business is not a rare approach to this problem.

As you can see from some of the companies we mentioned above, buying from veteran-owned businesses goes beyond helping those who run them. Veteran Owned Coffee Brands You Should Be Drinking +1

The military consumes a lot of coffee. Its been a source of comfort for them for a very long time even if one of the old Army cadences runs like this, They say that in the Army, the coffee is mighty fine. It looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine. Basic rations and coffee must go hand in hand and along with it come rituals on how it is prepared and consumed in garrison, the field and in warfare. The history of coffee supposedly goes back to the 10th century. Thats a long time for soldiers to be drinking brew and kicking butt.

In his book Gettysburg: The Pivotal Battle of the Civil War, author Captain Robert K. Beecham wrote about soldiers and coffee. He penned, The power of the soldiers to endure the fatigue of the march and keep their places in the ranks was greatly enhanced by an opportunity to brew a cup of coffee by the wayside. Coffee has consoled and fueled soldiers for hundreds of years.

Ebenezer Nelson Gilpin, a Union cavalryman, wrote in his diary, in April 1865 at the end of the Civil War, Everything is chaos here. The suspense is almost unbearable.

We are reduced to quarter rations and no coffee, he continued. And nobody can soldier without coffee.

Most in the military who consume Meals Ready to Eat look forward to the instant coffee packs stuffed inside the durable pouch. Some MREs even have chocolate covered coffee beans.

Will The Market Continue To Grow

Veteran-owned coffee businesses are a great avenue for veterans seeking a transition to civilian life after life in the service.

Despite Black Rifles ambitious claim that it would hire 10,000 veterans, more than half of its 550 employees are indeed former military service workers. Similarly, Fire Department Coffees team is almost entirely run by active or retired firefighters, from its head roaster to its operations officer.

To date, there are more than 85 veteran-owned coffee businesses across the US, including ones in California, Texas, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Arizona.

Yet far from reaching saturation point, Luke believes the market still has room to grow.

The market is huge, and there is always room for growth and competition, he says. We are very blessed, because in America we have a lot of opportunities, which maybe other countries do not have and were very grateful for that.

The possibilities are endless on how much we can grow. The customers are from all walks of life, not just the military or first responders, they are people who appreciate a good cup of coffee.
